communication mistranslation by Philippa JaneI continue to admire you
through rose-coloured glasses,
drenched in a shade that
generously masks your
lingering florid cheek stains
and blushing eyes.
Post-downfall, we amuse our
conversation with recollections
of foolishness and relationship
jeopardy - communication
mistranslation, and all of
rouge's misleading shades.
I want to scrutinize my own
hours with equal (pre)caution,
to confidently conclude that
your observations match mine;
that perhaps your life is not the
only view I whitewash in pink -
that you, just like I did,
witness an imperfect collage:
a relationship gone awry,
its once iridescent light now faded
in Autumn's forewarning hues. 08/18/2003 Author's Note: Relationship complications will be the death of me.
