my eternal optimist

Delayed rainfall cascading
on to ravenous terrain;
Precedent for a late winter,
antecedent to a global realisation
that the world is spinning
at a haphazard new tilt.

We are North greeting South,
exchanging East to West ideology.
Thread by thread we are
tying these ends together.

We retrain our ears,
so long deceived by clever tongues
that discovered at first conception
how to disguise collective
thoughts and theories
with disparate
songs and sounds.

We are one blood, in camouflauge
one heart, in a thousand pieces.
Shattered, scattered
from desert to glacial wonderland.

And these digital impulses
of a world on the brink
play backwards in my
saturated mind, telling us
to reverse every conclusion:
never odd or even
