illusions weaved to keep us warm
reminding us that we are loved
reinforcing our sense of worth
only to disappoint in the very end
recalling all our forgotten misconceptions
so blunt in its presentation

retrieve the vision of yourself
embedded deep within your heart
feed off its energy and beauty
let it lift you from sadness
eternal in its rays of hope
catching everything you love
tucking it away, concealed
inside a cage of self-absorbance
only to be opened with self-despair
needing a hint of self-assurance
