dryad

by Rhyana Fisher

coiled about herself
within a nameless glade
she fades from memory

the laughter of the trees
curls about her head
and she smiles at the sun

dappled shadows flutter
across her naked body
her only camouflage

she stands and stretches,
embraces the giggling wind
as it chases after her hair

dancing ferns stroke
across dew beaded skin
as she greets the new morning

there is no future
no past, no regrets
no place in civilization

she left that behind
when she escaped her humanity
and paid the price to forget

I approve of it. Reminds me of my lovely nereids.
