alliteration station

by Emily G Myers

sideways statesboro rain
my legs are soaked
jeans through to skin
and shoes squish with steps
the saturation of a student
now silly with the stupor of salvation
stopping silently under this cover
slipping easily from a sticky situation

Author's Note: A story mostly. With lots of "s"s. I used to have a boy I knew alliterate the sentences he wrote me; it was a little joke between us. I think his best was, "Darn the dastardly distance that decimates our date." That was floating around in my head when I wrote this... totally for fun, of course. It rains sideways in Statesboro, you know.
