Midnight

by Karen Michelle

this feeling in hindsight
of descending into night
and that sense of
flight and force
i can do anything
in these hours
when the threat of
rising sun is too far
off to still my beating heart

these words are but memories
of those i wrote last night
when i wanted to mend my flesh
and dig into yours
a little deeper

inching ever closer
to morning and another
exhale of autumn and
intake of winter
i could wish for
a torrential downpour
or flurry of snow
to replace this blue sky
- cloudless and deceiving

but only fools hold
onto this sense of perfection,
living in a darkness
where even daylight
seems forgiveable

i know
that once these eyes
shut down against
the weary world
thIs spell will be

Tremendous form. "to replace this blue sky - cloudless and deceiving" excellent phrase that really imbues vivid imagery in the mind of the reader. Thanks for sharing and welcome.
