Portrait of a World at Dawn

by Karen Michelle

This night drips into morning
with the subtlety of spring breeze
- refreshing me in its wake -
A breath of renewal of lamplight,
pre-empting daylight.

Your skin, curved and folded
into spaces of perfection
- drawing me into silence -
engages the memory of time
faceless and halted.

These minutes, press against
another dusty horizon
- amber and ambiguous -
and the grit of morning
awaits the crush of sunrise

Nice poem Karen...your work reminds me of Nan Whitcomb's. Welcome to Pathetic from a fellow Aussie :)
