All That Glitters by Karen Michellesomebody has to be blessed with mediocrity.
why should it be me?
slow and steady
wins the race
but not the fame.
everybody forgets
dismisses
ignores.
failure, at least
merits a mention.
in crowds, i blend in.
my colourless contours
swimming in a sea of
reds and yellows
the colours of the rainbow
pulsating, gleaming.
you can't see my lifeblood
but it's there
pumping, pumping
through my veins
my arteries
up into my brain
my mind
filling up with thoughts
faster than it can spit them out.
can't someone bite in,
tear the flesh,
taste my blood?
beneath the surface
everything and nothing is
as it should be.
there's so much more
screaming
begging
waiting
to be let out.
if you could only see
see me...
let me take you over
let my breath be yours
just for one moment
you'd see everything you ever wanted
dream things you never knew you could.
let yourself be intoxicated,
drink it all in
sink into my murky depths
and see the world
as i see it
feel the world
as i feel it
and know
finally
that there's nothing ordinary
about
this
girl...
