#16 (Familiar Stranger)

by Amanda J Cobb

An older man came in today,
a complete stranger.
I'd never seen or met him before,
and yet something about him
was familiar.
His scent.
Flavored pipe tobacco,
wood shavings,
and a certain type of soap
all rolled into one.
Exactly how my grandfather used to smell.
I hadn't thought I'd ever
come across that scent again.
