Coffee shop blues

by Derek Gregory

A quite coffee shop

Busy with business people

a waitress young and pretty yawns,

her mind wandering.

She pushes a thin strain of blonde hair from her fair eyes.

Her pursed lips grimace as she ponders

the drunk pushing dirty pennies at her.

His dirty hands shaking

silently to a slow tick.

Her gentle agitated eyes look down.

She pushes it back pleading,

for him to leave.

quietly threatening

to call the police.

The raged man leaves reluctantly,

cussing everybody

Could just picture this scene...a momentary observation.
