Submersion (Your Blue and Grey) by Mainon A SchwartzYou once painted me a picture
of the point
where abstraction
meets existence
and lost me just where
the blue
met the gray
I always thought the colors
would conflict
when they found they weren't the same
and devolve into the endless cycles
of screaming, yelling--
the violence of combat
or that they would retreat
in sullen, detached silence
virulently blaming
the other
but when i found the secret
of descending, needlelike
into the smooth surface
of your deep black pupil
i found that colors disappeared
or they merged
and melded
until the blue and the gray
were all one
indistinguishable
who knew
that the absorbing
and the being absorbed
were all the same?
like the loving
and the devouring
or the colors
distinctions are irrelevant
and i no longer identify
the blue
or the gray
only you
