Vivid Imagery

by Madeline Pestolesi

Purple dandelion kisses
On the sweet breath of life
Flowing over hot,
Sunburned skin.
Driving the smooth road
Like melted butter.
White bread and jelly sandwiches
And chocolate cake
Leaving their waxy layers
On my kitchen
On my chin.
Inhale the painful cloud
And wait for Drowsy to arrive.

And I...
Ease into the cloud-soft flannel bed
And roll into hard sleep.

If your goal was imagery... you certainly attained that. It was like a bouquet of flowers.
