So we all think we're special
(My mamma says I'm special)
We all think we're new
(Who wouldn't want something new?)
But we're not, and we aren't
(What? Who says we aren't? You?)
Truth we hide and construe
(True, What is truth?)
Every fingerprint different
(Yeah mine are unique)
But nobody cares-except the FBI
(Who says?, I care)
On a long enough timeline
(Yeah, yeah heard it before)
We are all going to die
(Stop being so morbid)
I used to write thinking
(Thinking is good)
I had something new to say
(Everyone has something to say)
But I realize that all of this
(Finally he is coming to a conclusion)
Doesn't matter anyway
(Yes it does)
I write now because I love it
(See you really do care)
Not for any high noble goal
(Like expressing political opinion)
Not to influence a mind, or a never seen soul
(But writing does influence minds)
I write not for accolades
(Who doesn't like to be applauded)
Not for money or praise
(No one makes money as a poet)
I write for I am a word
(What word is that?)
A long echo spoken phrase
(Like part of creation's God spoken essence?)
An oft thought of person
(You really think you're on God's mind?)
On the mind of a Great Mind
(Let's not get fanatical here)
A looked after Son before and behind
(What makes you think you're special?)
Owned by Christ bought and paid
(You are not owned you are free!)
So I can't see the purpose or the point
(That is because you are insignificant)
The Why me? -adoption question played
(As well it should be)
Over again in my mind-with no answer I can see
(Finally he understands there is no point)
I just believe and trust I am loved
(Impossible you're unlovable)
And in this I'm not afraid
(You are a fool)
