Fuzzy Blue Hat by Madeline PestolesiMy fuzzy blue hat
Is an optical illusion.
I am the recipient
Of a lot more male attention
When I have it on.
It gives the appearance
Of hidden hair
Tucked inside.
I love
Whipping it off
In the presence of strangers
And watch them try to control their expression
When they see
That the hair
Is horribly disappointing.
I went shopping at GAP
And I waited
For a sales person to approach
And say:
"Finding everything, sir?"
I don't think I would be that offended,
More amused to see their face
When I turned
And they saw my huge
Jugs.
But I guess I'm less manish than I thought,
Because I'm still greeted with a m'am
Or miss.
Though I would prefer "sugar-lips"
Because M'am
Is for people past the age of 30,
Not 21 year old girls.
I continue to wear
My fuzzy blue hat
Even when it's 80 degrees out.
Because the surprise
I can spring on people
Is worth the dizzying heatstroke
I will probably be stricken with
On the next sunny day.
