alien in my eye

by Olivia Weinkein

i paint my toenails &
click my heels four times
(an extra one just for luck, just
for luck because i need it sometimes,
ya know)

but you are no closer to home
to me.

you are your own planet
distant and spinning.
my hands of time will never calculate
your arrival
approximately.

space invader and i
am spaced out slipping through
the cracks & creases of this
disapproval i wear for you.
shiny wet like diamonds.

you may even find me smiling.
if you stand to look if you
stand to lose anything
worth keeping.

i'm not (worth keeping)

and i know that by now.

Fellings of worthlessness and feeling like you're out of place.... difficult to discuss in verse. But you manage it very well. Great poem.
