Her Superman

by Trisha De Gracia

Just in time to save the day-
but Superman, he flies away
and what's left broken on the floor
but the little one that could try no more.
She's dying inside,
Words crash all around
and spinning and whirling
she just hits the ground.
Black closing in
it's just too hard to try
she wants to let her emotions fly
but slammed into the concrete
She thinks "This is what love brings?"
a sparrow dying on the sidewalk
blood too cold to spread her wings,
and looking, there's her Superman
whom no one can destroy,
But stepping into a telephone booth
He's just another boy.
