Car Keys and Whiskey

by Mainon A Schwartz

I'm the keys to a car with an
Optimum-performance engine,
And you've never had a ride
Like this before.

You're the whiskey in a shot glass,
oh-so-tempting; and you're the one
Throwing rainbows on the wall
Above my head.

No automatic transmission
With this lady; she requires
A hands-on approach to the
Shifting of gears.

This one's on the house, or so you
Say; I'm inclined to indulge this
Once and let you burn your way
Into my chest.

But your reactions are too slow:
Can't risk the demolition of
My steel frame just because
You forgot to brake.

And your appeal necessitates
My refusal; one draught of you
And I'd lose all my balance--
You're much too strong.

Like my daddy always said,
Car keys and whiskey don't mix.

I like the two different images you use and how you use the statement at the end to sum it all up ;)
