Jimi Hendrix

by Shayla R Cakes

When Jimi told you "Don't let this one go."
Why did you defy?
Don't you remember that dream?
The one where you woke from your feverish sleep
Dripping in your own feverish sweat
As I stroked your feverish hair?
I remember that day so clearly -
You came to see me, despite your feeling ill.
"Honey, go lay down and get some rest,"I remember saying.
You declined the invitation to my comfy sheets.
"I want to spend time with you," you said.
I convinced you that I'd rather spend time with you in your dreams
Than your being awake and in an unhealthy despair.
An hour passed with us holding hands in your gentle slumber.
Never had anything looked so beautiful...
Like rose petals resting on the peaceful tide of the ocean.
Breathing in and out.
The beads of sweat emerging from your forehead.
I remember wiping them off and running my fingers through your hair
For the remaining hours of your slumber.
Mother returned from the supermarket with a bottle of Sunny Delight with your name on it.
I woke you gently.
"Jimi Hendrix came to me in a dream," you said, with the most childish facial expression.
"We were at a concert, and he came to me and said 'Don't let her go. Don't let this one go.'"

You promised me that Jimi made the best suggestion.
You promised me you'd follow his advice.

So why did you defy?

who knows why people move on? i'm still trying to understand why some of my ex-boyfriends. like 2 i really cared about let me go without a second thought. but maybe he didn't care as much about you as you did about him. it sucks, but thats just the way people are.
