This Land Is...Our Land?

by Charles J Hannan

Doesn't the Earth bleed
When being ripped apart
While trees grow for many years
Just to be a splinter of happiness

The heavens cry acid rain
And blows the wound with hurricane
Minding it's business
Keeping us afloat for evolution

We multiply millions of times
Growing and growing
Without giving
This land our gracious love

Digging holes in shrinking space
Filling up with economy
Exploding precious materials
Giving back in grey fumes

Stop a moment
Come down from your caterpillar
Kiss the soil you stab
And savor the taste of life
