Favorite Mistake

by Amanda L Marron

i'd take back every hurtful utterance

from my mouth

that continually stung at you like a swarm of bees

each word its own bee

i'd reach up to the midnight sky

and take down a star

for every mistake i've made

sorry isn't enough

i'd give you your wildest dreams

i'd make each and every one

become true

become real

all because i love you

we've been delving deep

looking for an answer

to a question

an answer we already know

cut into my eyes with yours

see everything i've yearned to say

but never had a chance to speak aloud

we're human

we all make mistakes

our love was my favorite

describing the love you shared as your "favorite mistake" adds a sharp twist to this dagger fall of a poem. i'm not usually one for similie, but you used them really well here to express the bottomless sense of departure you felt. great write, luv, thank you for sharing this. |m|
