where the boys are

by Olivia Weinkein

it happens when you least expect it
doesn't it. you
thought you were safe, a handfull of
boys in your pocket, the taste of
want for religion

in your mouth.

fifty sparrows of reason flying from your
fingertips of why this can be beautiful if
you really need it to be. but did you

really need it to be now that you've let
every reason fly south and further,
further yet until every remnant of what
was has been smothered by your need

for control. control over something

that won't leave you wet and begging for
more. clench your fists and mock any good
intentions. with a handfull of boys in your pocket

you just can't go wrong.

Beautifully written with an earth based honesty. Great poem.
