A Certain Course (revised)

by Stephanie Kent

The river...
Crawling through the mist,
Slithering along its course
Through a drapery of tree limbs.
Dawn struggling through the curtains
Clasped shut by the advancing storm
Ominously rolling over the sky;
Creeping with its hidden claws
To seize the morning tightly,
As the river continues unflinching
Along a course more constant
Than the ever enclosing veil.

Beautiful and wet. Very wet imagery. I love the poem and the scene depiction is great. Thanks for posting.

Images of a great bird of prey swooping down on the serpentine river...very evocative!
