for just a taste

by Erin Werle

For just a single taste of you
I'd sell my soul to the Morningstar;
as the cosmos open - overdue -
to shed the light on where you are.

I'd sell my soul to the Morningstar,
for just a chance to touch your skin;
to shed the light on where you are -
Please, let me taste that perfect sin.

For just a chance to touch your skin,
I'd rend my battered soul in half;
Please, let me taste that perfect sin -
I'd bear the fall on your behalf.

I'd rend my battered soul in half,
as the cosmos open - overdue -
I'd bear the fall on your behalf
for just a single taste of you.
