Fading into Autumn by Stephanie KentGoing through the motions
Wearing a mask that doesn't fit
Tied to the things you've never owned
Wide eyes searching for something more..
Only to find the tattered remains of a life left unlived
The spring has turned to summer
And the leaves, they start to fade
They dare to reveal the deaths of dreams
You never thought you'd made
Pouring over dismal pieces
Trying to find the right fit
Breaking the pieces you're forcing to change...
Wide eyes dying to find their light...
Only to find the darkened halls of a life left unfulfilled
The spring has turned to summer
And the leaves, they start to fade
They dare to reveal the deaths of dreams
You never thought you'd made 07/02/2003 Posted on 07/02/2003 Copyright © 2024 Stephanie Kent

Good one, yet kinda sad. It seems the seasons can go so fast. Then ya realize things that haven't been done. |

Posted by Alex Smyth on 07/03/03 at 05:53 AM The first stanza is amazingly strong and expressive, it draws the reader directly into the poem. Great job! |
