Muttering Old Woman

by Madeline Pestolesi

In 50 years
I plan to be
That crazy woman that frequents the ends of cul de sacs.
I'll take all the toys of children that cross my path
And leer at them for having fun.
I won't have cats
(I'm allergic)
But I will,
Most definitely,
Wear stretch pants with stirrups
Like I did when I was 8.
And I'll wear a pink sweater with kitties
And a sequined baseball cap.
But I'll still have a pierced belly button
And my tatoos
Rememberences of my youth
To balance out
The muttering old woman.

great. imagery is fantastic on this one, dear. i love it. i like your library, too. i should read more of the poetry in it. you seem like a lovely person, from what i've read of your writing.

Coming to terms with our future selves is difficult... glad to see you have a plan. Great poem.
