I am the Earth (revised)

by Trisha De Gracia

I want to become a force.
A presence.
I'll open my arms in the night and become this.
I'll be the open grey sky above you.
The water that shows your reflection
and flows all through your blue veins.
I'll be the wind that rustles your hair
the breeze that stirs a smile to your face.
I'll be the flame that sparks all your passion
the fire that keeps you alive through the night.
I'll be the rain and I'll fall all around you,
you'll feel me there puddled
in holes at your feet.
I'll be the Earth.
I'll be ever-present,
there everyday to catch falling footsteps.
I'll be the Earth
and the world will know me
I'll care for them all
I'll hold them to me.
I'll be the Earth
So that you'll never break me.
So that you'll never dare to rip me apart
for fear of Newton
and all his discoveries.
I'll be the Earth
So that no matter what
they will feel me and say
"That is she."
And they'll know my existence.

Was this inspired by the brilliant thunder and lightning storm we had last night? It's powerful.

Awesome poetry! I really enjoyed this piece. The imagery is grand, and the feeling is wonderful. I was swept away by your words.
