The Woman

by Thomas K. Hunt

She laid me down
And put my head against her heart
Where I grazed in the valley of her soul
She stood me up
And showed me what pleasure was
Then brought me to my knees
As she gave me her life to hold

She was a young boys dream
A teacher, a lover, a woman to the bone
She made me a man
A king upon a throne

She taught me how to touch
How to feel
How to make her breathe
What was real

The softness of her skin
The fragrance of her life
The way she took me in
Deep within the night

We swallowed each others love
Both eager for the taste
We lapped up every drop
We savored every trace

I am what I am
Because she took the time
She got what she wanted
And Lord knows I got mine
