Conundrum by Graeme Fieldeni petitioned my illusion
and as I watched it fly
and float toward frustration
It fell into the sky
afloat with distant memories
of secrets lost and found
then graduating fallacies
they fell up from the ground
reality then struck me
like water to the flame
but out of pure frustration
i could not tell it’s name
the earth it turned,tumultuous
it's risen to the ground
the sky it smiled, incredulous
its secret lost now found
and in the air the secret lost
did soar on high, on high
what once was lost has now been found
petitioning the sky
I petitioned my illusion
frustration's gone to sleep
awake from my confusion
solution's mine to keep.

Posted by Marjorie Anne Reagan on 06/25/03 at 02:51 PM May I borrow that pen? Absolutely magnificent.
The solution is yours to keep. I love that line. |
Posted by Max Bouillet on 06/26/03 at 02:52 PM The whole poem is incredible but the next to last stanza almost has a hymn quality to it that really brings the reader in. Thanks for sharing. |
Posted by Katerina T Nix on 06/27/03 at 06:06 AM I really loved this poem, Graeme. It reminded me of the style that William Blake wrote in. You know, that kind of whispering, unduly curious story-telling way. Or maybe not.....but that's how I saw it anyway. :) kat. |
Posted by Alastre Zidler on 06/28/03 at 04:34 AM A series of unique images that evoke a cohesive story that is flexible to creative interpretations... I'll bet you took great pleasure writing this one, Graeme. Your style is very natural and free. Wonderful, provocative piece. |
Posted by Kate Demeree on 06/30/03 at 11:07 AM I agree with the musical quality to this, maybe it says something different to each reader. To me it was as if the sky opened up after dark clouds. That the path was set before you and you decided it was time to take it. Or a song of acceptance that things may not be the way you wish them to be, but you accept them as they are finally. |

Posted by Don Coffman on 08/21/03 at 02:23 AM Things that just fall out of pens and keyboards can be pretty spectacular, like this one. There are a lot of neat phrases and all sorts of things the reader can imagine for a meaning. |
Posted by Michele Schottelkorb on 02/24/04 at 06:30 PM brilliant... it is inner searching and fulfillment... it is poetry and it is perfect... blessings... |

Posted by Charles E Minshall on 05/03/05 at 09:47 PM I like it all Graeme but the last two stanzas
are my favorite. In all fun to read. Congratulations on poem of the day...Charlie |
Posted by Alex Smyth on 05/04/05 at 03:17 AM Fell from your pen and onto our imagination. I love this, a suprizing change from the (wonderful) prose. Hearty congratulations on POTD:o) |
Posted by JD Clay on 05/04/05 at 03:31 AM The thought of you becoming Poet Of The Day with this self-imposed esoteric piece is no enigma. Hats off, Graeme.

Posted by Quentin S Clingerman on 05/06/05 at 07:26 PM Conundrum exactly! LOL! Like many, if not most, dreams; mostly nonsense but a hint of reality somewhere there. Kinda like being lost in a maze of words, workin' your way out in some 'reasoned' way. Fun read. |
Posted by Katerina T Nix on 05/11/06 at 05:31 AM ah, still love this one, Graeme. I show it to all my friends :) Kat. |
