Crayfish

by Bruce W Niedt

The swell of your tidal-pool feeling

   drown me on the banks

me the little child dunking for crayfish

me the young man diving for you pearls

you a bottomless

too heavy the water

                 I can’t go deep

                                             yet

for now, I hit the shore barefoot in you sea

watching you      pearly crayfish

you wash desire on my barefoot boyfeet

and my thoughts sink like newspaper ships.
