Beautiful, Wonderful, Shatters her Heart by Trisha De GraciaI see you.
You're a hard one not to see,
with your perfect face and figure,
with all the talent and character an idol should have.
I see you.
I see you dance on your stage
which is everywhere.
See you sing for your audience,
everyone.
I see you.
We all do-
but she does too.
When she watches you
she looks at you with more.
She looks at you with all of her.
She sees you with hands large enough to swallow any grief
you may ever have.
She sees you with eyes that will hold your gaze
though she can't hear your words
through the blood in her ears.
She looks at you and she sees what everyone sees
and takes every hint
when you allude to what you never show.
She looks at you
and little do you know
when you look back and smile,
and profess your love in the office foyer
so loud and clear
you shatter her, you perfect girl.
You shatter her.
Because the world is your stage
she suspects that you're acting.
You're audience is everyone,
and her heart aches to know you're not singing for her.
On top of it all
not one of your smiles
Can dam up the floods
That fall on her freckles.

Posted by Barbara Griffith on 06/24/03 at 06:58 PM I really love this one. You know, sometimes I wish she'd come onto Pathetic and read all the poems we have about her (directly or indirectly). |
