Lies

by Max Bouillet

Lies are butterfly wings
pinned to cork board
in a display case
in the basement
of an abandoned museum.

Or, to offer a different interpretation than Gratiagusti's, lies are like butterfly wings in that they're pretty and light at first, but much as we try to hide them, they are always on display for those who dig deep enough. Well done yet again, Max. I truly enjoy your work.

gee this series is really getting to me. your descriptions are so true and beautiful. so truthful in this sense because once you've told a lie you can't take it back, just like you can't free those butterflies on the corkboard no matter how hard you try.

Hi Max, Good one. But I must say, can't agree with the lies are butterfly wings. Butterflys are beautiful, whether sittying on a flower or flying around. They don't or won't tell ya lies. But lies can be place, and can show up and bite ya in the butt. Best to tell the truth, be honest, but nice about it. Cause it's just keeps getting bigger and bigger, til one doesn't know what the truth is themselves. And some dones't care they show it off, like their proud of it, to display it openly or in a case hidden away.

This is an evocative image. The meaning is certainly ambiguous!
