lingering pain

by Jessica Yen

you exposed my bare skin
and now tears come to my eyes
when i think of the pain
in my mouth.

have you ever felt this pain before?

i have an open wound
in place of where your
seducing lips caressed mine
over and over again.

is this how you wanted me to feel?

i remember every word
that you lied to me--
every inveracity that
made me quiver in my shoes.

is anything real anymore?

i shudder to think
of how much i trusted you.
i trusted you with my soul
my heart and my life.

do you think it's over?

you've broken my heart
but this soul won't be
discouraged.

don't think i won't come after you.

Obsessive with a chilling ending... great word-crafting.
