Youth scattered like dust

by Ginette T Belle

In a cocoon
Impervious, hence the colour of jade
Falling in the hands of anyone who would ask

Looks tenacious, an unending waterfall
Unmagnetic, yet drawing in space
Oh, but it seems that it is space causing skin to burst

And free? But there are prison bars that block all vision
A sapphire sky, pristine waiting to be touched
Sitting on an unimpassioned floor

Stick men litter the concrete walls
No heart or soul to be seen in their chalk bodies
Surrounded! Completely, utterly forsaken
