Happily Ever After

by Quinlan L Gibson

She met him and
she fell in love.
One thing he always promised was
he'd take
her to
the ocean.

She knew her time
would one day come.
Could smell sea air.
Salt on her tongue,
in dreams
about
the ocean.

She worked so hard
and held on tight.
For three years, and
two twelve hour drives.
Needing to
be by his side,
and walk
along
the ocean.

Then there she was.
In sight and sound.
And on the balcony
he found..
her crying...
as she smiled
out at
the ocean.
