if only i had more time

by Lisa-Dawn Sparling

If only I had more time…
I would give you gentle backrubs in front of the fire.
If only I had more time…
I would welcome you home from work in only my high heals and an apron.
If only I had more time….
I would light candles and run us a bath and you could wash my chest as I lay on yours,
If only I had more time….
I would set the stereo outside so we could dance barefoot on the grass.
If only I had more time…
I would lie in bed beside you as I watch you sleeping right now.
If only I had more time….

Author's Note: it's hard being pulled between being a mother, a partner, a productive employee, a friend, a sister, a daughter, a belly dancer, a writer, a lover, etc... it just seems like time is always slipping through your fingers.

Great poem, Lisa. There's never enough time. Though I bet he'd appreciate the high heels and apron.
