Uncle, you.

by Gabrielle L Gervais

I am amazed at the eagerness with which you live.
In awe of the way you wonder at the earth.
I am bewildered by the world you personify.
Changed by the way you loved-
The way your heart melted and became earth.

The stones cling to your bones like I wish to grasp you.
Your understanding eyelashes dance on the red dust
And the wind cradles your bristled arms as you
Leap into the sky.

Your clarity. Your love.
Broken into pieces
Following the dust and breeze
To be wild

All this in your eyes
In fingers- solid rock.
The burning red
Your shaking grasp.

The pebbles collect at the bottom of the mountain
The pieces of heart fall to your feet

You fell so easily
when the wind stopped holding you.

A strong, loving and touching piece Brie - beautifully written. I'm sure it makes your uncle proud!
