late-night electric

by Brynn Dizack

i.
could you stop breathing for just a minute & one blink at a time measure the thoughts that follow breathlessness watching the clock becomes the activity of choice it is impossible to rinse the post-cigarette lingering from the pads of slender fingers splayed out from minute hands and hourglass bodies & any way you wait it out we are always. reduced. to seconds.

& how many will it take to fill up the empty wires between your small voice & my receiver here in the cracks between brick buildings where the paneled glass windows are always reduced to shards eventually & don't forget that i asked you not to breathe because i don't want this to be

foggy.

Great ending... the breathless word use left me gasping for more. Thanks.
