To Old Eyes

by Alan Mahood

To old eyes
The skin of
Your cheek glows with
An inner light and
Your smile
Radiates,
Seeming to fill the air
With the soft
Warmth of a summers sunset
Reflected off
Still, quiet water.
To old ears
The melody of your
Laughter dances inside
My head, making me
Feel younger by years,
Momentarily breaking apart the
Hard shell created by
Decades of learning about
Life's unfairness, and
Lets eternal hope breathe deeply
Again.
To old arms
Your closeness creates
A longing to
Wrap you body within,
Protecting you from lifes
Dangers and darkness
While basking in the sauna of two
Beings fusing their souls together,
Feeling hearts beating through
Lips joined forever.
