Swing set afternoon

by Patricia J Reed

Alone on a swing
Lost in thought
(Backwards forwards)
While wind and trees
Share conversations
And a hummingbird
Eaves drops on their secrets
(Backwards forwards)
The birds sing and squawk
And flirt from tree to tree
(Backwards forwards)
But the trees don't notice
Because they're too deeply rooted
To care about the birds aloof ways
(Backwards forwards)
(Backwards forwards)
Leaves rustling and breaking off
Then telling their adventures to the grass
(Backwards forwards)
(Backwards forwards)
A darkening sky
As clouds change
From white to gold to grey
(backwards forwards)
(backwards)
(forwards)

Author's Note: I'm not super happy with the ending on this one. I will probably be updating it at some point.
