Uninvited Memories

by Christel Crews

Another night of sleepless dreams
and my thoughts, surprisingly, are of you
it was one year ago today
that you rocked my world
sending me down that evolving spiral

You crossed lines no friend should cross
then
You crossed lines no lover should cross

I can see you sitting there
I sense hunger from your stare
I feel you laying near
You haunt me
Your memory lingers

I close my eyes to only relive the dramatic scene
sitting there, wanting me, refusing me
I didn't understand you then
and I sure as hell don't get you now

The hunger, the passion, the fire
then
Anger, confusion, resentment, lust

I don't need you any more
I don't want you like before
I walked away and shut the door
Life carries on
and your memory fades

Nicely written. Those memories, uninvited, come to us when we least want them to, I can relate to this completely. Brought back those memories but they will fade soon enough and life with go on. A wonderful piece. thank you for sharing this.
