The Night by Ken HarnischShe came to me at night, then slipped inside
The covers on the double bed
I gave her comfort with a kiss
And a shoulder where she lay her head
So, hours passed by in the night
Uncharted by us as they flew
The whispered pleadings fell and rose
We talked and talked the long night through
The danger was our intimacy
Was not from touch or kiss or stroke
But heat can climb from many fires
And ours was in the words we spoke
And as we lay there, closer still
I reached across the Great Divide
And kissed her glossy lips awhile
Before I brought her to my side
She trembled and her eyes went wide
Resisting lightly my embrace
But I felt the way she arched into
My idling fingers on her face
And the way her strands of hair were splayed
Before my bold caresses then
The way she softly moaned my name
As I brought her nearer once again
And how our tortured, separate forms
Gently found their complement
Then pressed against the heated coil
With kisses that were heaven-sent
And the night became another bed
The stars a cover filled with fire
That began amidst a surreal fog
And ended with our sweet desire.

Posted by Kate Demeree on 06/13/03 at 12:07 AM I think this is by far the most lovingly passionate poem you have posted today. It out does all others in it's sensuality. |
Posted by JD Clay on 06/13/03 at 04:53 AM Now there is a soft and tender verse that stirs a host of emotions. Excellent rhyme scheme and overall great composition. Happy Birthday, pal.
