Victim of a Duplicated Man by Beth K HannahSelfish little wave
Rolling into the coast
Like nothing happened
Like my tears didn't aid you
And make you saltier
I try to be silent when he
Walks out the door
When he says his lies
When he polishes her name in public
Bragging and gloating
Causing me to choke.
I try to hate
While staring at him in the mirror
Kissed collars
Gaudy perfume
Bills for gifts I never see
Places I'll never go
My wedding ring lost it's sparkle
My heart it's glow
I can't stand up to him
Perhaps I'd lose him
I ignore the snide comments
The whispered pity
He is the epitome of my dreams
And our marriage is my nightmare. 06/11/2003 Author's Note: "The moon is over my left shoulder" ~Mark Selby.
