Denial

by Christopher Shin

The color of blue in your eyes,
and the waves of night in your hair
makes me desire to spend the
credits in my name.

You stare at me with mystery in
your soul each day I look at your image.
I hold my wallet out to you,
and curse to myself for following my
heart.

I threw this emotional muscle away
after almost slaying my thoughts
over someone just like you.
I almost died because of
the ideals of Lancelot and France.

I will never fall in love or be
so foolish to spend or think
about a happy ending for this
damned life.

I will strive to be stag that
many of your sex would desire,
but I shall be just beyond your
grasp.

I shall flaunt myself like you did
to so many willing victims.
I shall never be yours again.
I shall be my own man,
and never be drawn to your arms.

Nicely crafted emotional dialogue. Powerful build-up to an intense resolution. Thank you for sharing.

amazing work, Chris. good to see you posting again... even if you're still anti-love. ;)
