on the outside lookin in (rambling of sorts)

by Olivia Weinkein

i loved you when it wasn't friendly,
when i wasn't made to witness girls
like moths

from your heated touch all over themselves
alloveryou
and they stick like glue, don't they

don't they
and i know now
all about how it works
with you, how i would have fell right into
the land of waste that represents you

all those girls who didn't look first
who jumped right in throwing caution,
hearts, legs to the wind and i could
have been one of them

but we're friends now and i know you
through and through and i also know
you will never allow yourself
to love me if you knew that i

loved you once or pehaps even,
that i still do.
but i will never be a moth to crash
and burn. you will never represent
that kind of light to me and that's
alright with me but someday it just
might not be alright with you.

and i'll be here
waiting for you to

i'll be here

waiting for you to
burn.
