He played many songs tonight
His fingers
choreographing
the years –
strokes in-between life: a series of moments -
the mind is forced to recall
that we stand on equal amounts of regret and satisfaction,
and time is not always understood
it does not function to produce the ideal picture
it does not always sell
or make sense to crying eyes -
you can only stand back from it
after all is said and done
and appreciate the vast assortment
of colors
and years
that make it up
