Did You Catch That?

by Christel Crews

It wasn't more than a year ago, when I was in her place
I couldn't make my mind relax from reading into your words
You drew me in with lines I had never heard.
You "needed me to be your friend, for no one else really cared."
You "appreciated my honesty and my candid nature".
I "was different from the rest".

Then you repeated your cycle and drew me in and spit me out
after I had willingly given you my heart and soul.
As I pulled away from you, for you yourself said that we
were "only friends", you realized you were losing me
so you went in for the kill.
You treated me like every other guy I'd ever known and afterwards,
you couldn't look me in the face.

You said that it was over and that we needed space.
You said that we both had a lot to learn so I left and gave you space.
I've learned so many lessons from that fling we had
But you haven't learned a thing, its a vicious cycle for you
For now, You're playing with her heart and you're playing with her soul
But you see, I'm here and I've told her everything.
You won't get away with this any longer.

So, I might need to warn you, because her words tonight
have stirred a new emotion that I never thought would come.
If you so much as come near her, I will see to it that your life will end
She is my friend and she's confused.
She doesn't want you but she's so confused...
Leave her alone.
I said LEAVE HER ALONE.
