Empty Dreams by Thomas K. HuntHungry heart longing for passion
Compelled to live without my ration
Yearning for what is missing
The warmth, the touch, and the kissing
Restless haunts that haunt me still
Take up arms against my will
In this battle with my fears
They breech the moat that bears my tears
Insecure behind my wall
Long removed from it all
Lost in silence, lost in time
Lingering thoughts that cross my mind
Hurting from the memory
Of what was then and now should be
Lost within my vacant world
Are empty dreams of just one girl

Posted by Alex Smyth on 05/30/03 at 08:12 AM I also admire the rhyme. It takes more work and discipline, but it really makes the words flow so the reader does not have to struggle with cadence. You've expressed this poignantly and poetically-Good poem! |
