Guardian Angel

by Paul Little

Guardian Angel

Always there by your side,
Now in spirit that my body is no more.
Watchful through the dark of night,
Ever vigilant in the days of light.
Silently present in front and behind,
Never once a thought of leaving,
Life and death no longer a barrier.

I walk the earth following you,
Stepping with your footsteps,
Hiding inside the shadows you cast,
You tread upon the road of life in safety,
Never knowing that I’m with you.
Words even shouted you cannot hear
My calling to you from afar.

As a lonely ghost I still exist,
Patiently watching and protecting
Until the time of some glorious day
When we shall roam together
Through the fields of paradise for eternity,
Until that time I shall always remain
Perpetually sleepless as your guardian angel.

richly poignant and touching indeed. We all benefit from Guardian Angels, but the role in this poem sounds wistful for the angel. Well said

Guardian Angels have intervened in mine and my loved ones lives...I believe!
