Leave me alone, my dear

by Michele Schottelkorb

Why do you ask me if I’m ok
When you know the answer is no
Why do you look at me that way
With eyes like that of a doe

You know the response before it’s said
The permanent fixture here
I’m tired and broken and ready for bed
Please leave me alone, my dear

Vivid and down to earth language that conveys the emotion behind the piece exceptionally well. Thanks for posting.

Oh Michele, what a beautiful piece of work describing those moments in every relationship when we just can't take any more stimulation from our partner. Thanks for writing this and sharing it.
