To a Person Who Is Not You

by Beth K Hannah

How florescent must you be
Before you see yourself
Or any of your footsteps?
I can hear you
Even at 3 in the morning

You use to be such a lovely
Little stock character
Cheap Laughs
Quick thrills
Even in December
I could always guess your name
Especially when you had just changed it.

Now you think you are
Not just alive
But looking inside the mirror
And even I would say you were fake
If only someone could hear me.

Late last night you broke my heart
Stole my shoes
And ran as far as you could.
Did I ever tell you I only wear stilletos?

Author's Note: Ironically, I never wear stilletos. I wish I knew who this was for...or why.

The better question was 'why did Bethy borrow my shoes?'. I like this one muchly:)
